“There is no better high than discovery.” – Edward Wilson
Sobriety is really a journey of self-discovery. It’s about figuring out who you are and what you want out of your life. A high quality addiction recovery center won’t change your life. YOU will change YOUR OWN life and they’ll be there to assist every step of the way. If you’re determined to reach a goal, no one can stop you from reaching that goal except for yourself. If you set a goal for yourself and proceed with full determination, then you can reach the objective whether you’re a student or an entrepreneur! We’ve seen plenty of people achieve things and change their lives in ways they never thought were possible once they put down that drink or drug.
This same principle is applied to heroin addiction treatment or any kind of drug and alcohol treatment. If you’re fully determined and follow some simple direction, thousands of people have successfully recovered. Whether it’s drugs or alcohol that have brought you to a point where you can’t continue to go on, it’s all the same. It’s the behaviors and thinking that need to change.
Once you realize you want to do something about addiction and stop being a slave to a substance, the world is yours. For individuals looking for a change in their life, there are drug rehabs in Los Angeles that increase chances of long-term recovery substantially. However, with so many options it can be difficult to find the best California drug rehab or drug detox programs to fit your needs. Here’s a guide that we use to determine which substance abuse evaluation and alcohol and drug services we work with.
1. Check Their Certifications:
First, verify the certifications of the recovery center. There are different levels that will help you know how qualified the treatment center is. All of the treatment centers we work with and recommend are JACHO accredited. Treatment centers with a JACHO certification have been evaluated by a third-party non-profit organization and were determined to be legitimate organizations that are really helping people get sober and beat addiction.
2. Find Out What They Offer:
The next step is to go through a list of what the rehab programs offer in terms of groups, therapy, whether or not they’re twelve-step based, and any other activities they include into their programming. Ask the treatment center for a list of different philosophies they incorporate into their treatment modality. An honest drug rehab in California will have this information readily available and gladly give you a breakdown of all the included and relevant programs that they offer. It’s crucial to know what you can expect before you make such a large and important commitment to something. If there’s co-occurring mental health diagnoses you suffer from in addition to addiction like trauma, PTSD, or an eating disorder, you want to make sure that’s something the prospective treatment center can actually help you with. There are even treatment centers that specialize in certain substances such as Hydrocodone addiction or Percocet addiction and even religiously based Christian rehab centers.
3. Read Reviews:
Don't forget to look over a treatment center’s reviews and any other information which may be available from people who aren’t directly associated with the rehab. Read reviews and testimonials from previous patients to learn about their experiences. Just remember, there will always be disgruntled patients and people who are unhappy with their experience are typically more likely to leave reviews on some of these third-party websites. There are even other treatment centers that will leave bad reviews to try and hinder their competition. These are just some important factors to keep in mind while doing this part of the research. Remember, there’s always two sides to every story and no drug dependency facilities are perfect.
4. Attitude of Staff:
This is a major factor and can't be overlooked. It’s important to do your best to determine how the staff of the rehab center behave around the patients after they’ve been admitted. It’s important the staff have a reputation as being loving and caring toward the people they’re working with. Pay attention to how they talk and interact with you and with other people.
5. How Long Have They Been Open?:
Treatment centers that have been open for a longer period of time stay in business for a reason. If a rehab is constantly mistreating patients, running groups that people aren’t learning from, and just trying to make money, they won’t be able to stay open for a long period of time. This isn’t to say that newer detoxes, inpatient, and outpatient centers can’t be good. We even work with some treatment centers that have only been open for a year or two. As staff members come and go, so can the quality of the treatment offered at different facilities. We’re always listening to patient feedback and following up with the people we work with to make sure they’re getting the most out of wherever they end up going.
